Current only: two welding programs at up to 25 kHz

Same robot, same wire, same travel speed. Two welding programs, and only the recorded welding current tells them apart.

Current only: two welding programs at up to 25 kHz
Slow-motion footage of both welds sits above the WeldTrace current trace, sampled at up to 25 kHz. In the burst program the arc current is on for part of the time; in the continuous program it is on almost all the time.

What you see

  • PoolDrop footage at 480 fps of both welds, side by side, with the WeldTrace current trace under each.
  • Burst program: current on 40–54 % of the time, 30–46 current peaks per second, mean current 22–30 A.
  • Continuous program: current on 82–100 % of the time, 88–126 peaks per second, mean current 47–66 A.
  • Inside the arc, both programs run one cycle about every 9 ms.

How to read it

  • Same robot, same ER70S-6 0.8 mm wire, same travel speed for both programs.
  • Across 133 robot welds measured in one lab session, the two groups never overlap.
  • It is a measurement on these welds in our R&D cell, not a weld-quality verdict.

Who it is for

Robot cell integrators and welding engineers who need proof of which program actually ran on every part, not only on the parts that get cut and checked.

Where the recording comes from

The current record comes from WeldTrace welding parameter monitoring, which records voltage, current and wire feed at up to 25 kHz on every weld pass. To see the same view on your own welding cell, ask for a WeldTrace demo.
